COLUMBUS – A 12-year-old boy is in stable condition after accidentally shooting himself with a gun he found in his grandfather’s Hilltop home.
Police say Matthew Withers told officers that he found a handgun in his grandfather’s bedroom on Racine Avenue at 6:02 p.m. Monday and shot himself in the leg while he was handling it handling it.
There was no immediate word on any potential charges in connection with the shooting or the handgun that the boy found.
Detectives say the incident is still under investigation.
