COLUMBUS – Two teenagers were injured in separate shooting incidents on the East Side Monday.
A 16-year-old boy was shot during an argument at a COTA bus stop in the 400 block of N. Nelson Road just after 4:30 p.m., according to Sgt. James Jardine of the Columbus police Felony Assault Unit.
He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with a wound in the abdomen but was upgraded to stable condition, Jardine said.
Police say a 14-year-old boy at the scene was also shot at but wasn’t hit.
Jardine says the incident started with an argument at a bus stop when an unknown black male pulled a handgun and fired at both of the victims.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., a 15-yearold boy was in a vehicle at the intersection of S. Weyant Avenue and Medway Avenue when numerous shots were fired into the vehicle and he was struck in the right side with one round, Sgt. David Shimberg said.
The teen was in stable condition at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Shimberg says the suspect was described as a young black male with a tapered afro.
The incidents are still under investigation.
