14-year-old girl, 44-year-old man may be headed out of state

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities have widened their search for a 14-year-old Springfield girl who has been missing since Tuesday and is believed to be traveling with a 44-year-old man who may be armed.

UPDATE: Michaela Bruce was found alive with Mark Edwards in Springfield Friday night.

An Endangered Missing Child Alert issued for Michaela Bruce West Central Ohio was expanded Thursday to a statewide alert.

Police fear she is with Mark Edwards who known to possess weapons. Bruce also has been granted a protection order against Edwards.

The alert was expanded because authorities fear the pair has left the Clark County area. Investigators have checked out possible sightings in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Several of those have been at truck stops, leading police to think they may be trying to hitch a ride with a trucker.

Michaela was last seen around 8:30 Tuesday night walking in the area of her home at The Hill Apartments on Faux Satin Drive in Springfield, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

Michaela is described as 5’2″/110 lbs. with blond or strawberry hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt with the word “Mason” on the front, blue jeans and glasses.

Edwards is described as black, 5’1″/135 lbs. with short black hair and brown eyes.
