COLUMBUS – Police are looking for a 15-year-old Eastmoor Academy student who brough a loaded gun, which had been reported stolen in Florida, to school Thursday morning.
Officers responded to the school at approximately 11:37 a.m. on a report of a student in possession of a handgun inside the school.
School security staff and personnel had detained the student in the office but the teen was able to flee, leaving behind his backpack where school staff found a Glock 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with one live round of ammunition chambered into the gun and nine live rounds in the weapon’s extended magazine, detectives with the Gun Crimes Unit said.
The gun was found to be reported stolen out of Martin County, Florida, police said.
Columbus officers searched the area and the student’s home but failed to locate him.
Arrest warrants were issued for the student on charges of possessing and conveying firearms into a school safety zone, carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property.
Three teens shot on Northeast Side
Three teenagers were injured in a shooting on the Northeast Side Thursday afternoon.
A boy and girl, both 15, and a 14-year-old girl were found by officers responding to a reported shooting in the 800 block of E. 12th Avenue at approximately 5:16 p.m., Sgt. Scott Soha of the Felony Assault Unit said.
The victims were suffering from gunshot wounds and were taken to a local hospital where they are expected to recover from their injuries, Soha said.
