COLUMBUS – Dublin officials are celebrating the completion of the city’s 20th roundabout a month and a half ahead of schedule.
The SR 161/Eiterman Road intersection roundabout is scheduled to open Friday at 3:00 p.m. Officials say the removal of a traffic light and the addition of the roundabout will improve efficiency and safety at the intersection, Lindsay Weisenauer, the city’s senior public information officer said.
The project, slated for completion by Oct. 16, was designed to accommodate increasing traffic in Dublin’s West Innovation District, which includes the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Ohio University College of Health Science and Profession’s Integrated Education Center and Columbus State’s Dublin Regional Learning Center, said Weisenauer.
Other improvements include widening SR 161 to four lanes, additional lighting, relocation of overhead utilities to underground and improvements to landscaping, storm sewers and water lines, Weisenauer said.
