COLUMBUS – Ohio State University is renaming one of its major campus streets in honor of John Glenn and his wife, Annie.
The university says the stretch of 17th Avenue that crosses the heart of campus between Tuttle Park Place to the west and College Road to the east will be renamed “Annie & John Glenn Avenue.”

A committee of OSU’s board of trustees approved the resolution Thursday, and the full board is set to vote on it Friday. New signs will go up after that.
“Maybe some student will see the sign that’s named after us and realize a lot of things come down the road. With their experiences at Ohio State, they can make the most of those opportunities,” Glenn told trustees Thursday.
The 94-year-old former U.S. senator and astronaut has strong ties to Ohio State, as does his wife, a longtime advocate for people with communication disorders.
Most recently, trustees established the John Glenn College of Public Affairs in January 2015
Annie Glenn is an adjunct professor with Ohio State’s Speech Pathology Department.
