COLUMBUS – Two men were found dead inside a parked car that police say someone was trying to light on fire on the Southwest Side Monday night.

Officers were called to the scene behind an apartment complex in the 3700 block of Eakin Road, near Wedgewood Drive, at 9:55 p.m. on a report of a man trying to light a rag on fire that was shoved inside the gas tank of a parked car, Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the homicide unit said.
When the officers arrived, they found Caleb Killen and Jawuan Reynolds, both 22, inside the car, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the fire was not successful and the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
