COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities have arrested two men who shared an apartment in Galloway after a the body of a woman who died of a drug overdose was found dumped in a ditch in western Franklin County.
Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott says Jordyn Hollingsworth, 21, appears to have died of a heroin overdose suffered some time over the Fourth of July weekend at the Candlestick Court apartment shared by Corey Roberts and Nicholas McCord.
Hollingsworth had difficulty breathing and became unresponsive after doing heroin with the men on Friday and, instead of calling for help, Roberts, 24, and McCord, 22, went to bed, investigators for Scott’s office say.
When the men awoke early Saturday morning to find Hollingsworth dead, they loaded her body in McCord’s car and drove to a secluded spot where they dumped the body in a cornfield along Jones Road, north of I-70, in Brown Township, Scott said.
A passerby noticed the body a called 911, Scott says.
Roberts and McCord were initially charged with abuse of a corpse but Scott says additional charges could be filed pending an autopsy.
