COLUMBUS – Columbus police are looking for suspects in two weekend homicides.
Two men were found shot to death on the East Side hours apart early Saturday morning, according to Homicide Unit detectives.
Columbus police officers were called to an apartment at 5481 Livingston Avenue on a reported shooting at approximately 2:48 a.m., Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
They found John Pope II, 19, suffering from a gunshot wound. Strayer says he was pronounced dead by Truro Township medics. 162 responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased at 3:01 AM.
At approximately 6:14 a.m., medics and officers were dispatched to the area of Franklin Park South and Franklin Park West on a report of a man lying on the sidewalk, said Sgt. Dave Sicilian.
They found the body of Dominique Deshawn Thomas, 23, across from 135 Franklin Park West, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Detectives are asking any who has any information or who was with Thomas in the hours or days preceding his death to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730.
These were the 49th and 50th homicides in Columbus in 2015.
