2 dead in Worthington shooting

COLUMBUS – Worthington police are investigating that city’s first homicide in 22 years.

UPDATE 3:27 p.m. 11/15: This article has been corrected to show the last homicide in Worthington was in 1995, not 12 years ago. It has also been updated to include the names of the victims and additional information.

Two people were killed and a third person injured early Wednesday in a shooting at Monkey’s Bar and Grill, on Huntley Road, according to Worthington police.

Officers were dispatched at 1:27 a.m. after 911 calls reported the shooting at the bar.

Rayland Sullivan, 36, and Brian Farris, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene and a 30-year-old man found nearby with
away with a gunshot wound to the leg was taken to a hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to a release from the Worthington Division of Police.

Worthington and Columbus police are
continuing to investigate but preliminary reports indicate there was an exchange of gunfire between the men.

There were no additional suspects
identified or a known motive Wednesday afternoon.

The last homicide on record in Worthington was in 1995 when a former Bank One employee, Jerry Hessler, went on a shooting rampage and was charged with killing four people including Paul Thane Griffin, who was killed in Worthington, city spokeswoman Anne Brown said.
