COLUMBUS – Columbus police early Thursday morning had not released the names of a man and a woman killed in a single-car accident on the Northwest Side on Wednesday.
The couple were westbound on I-270 and passing the Sawmill Road exit in a Toyota Camry during a heavy downpour at approximately 4:48 p.m., when the car slid off the right side of the freeway, crossed the grass, and struck a large steel light pole, Sgt. Brooke Wilson of the Accident Investigation Unit said.
The man, who was behind the wheel, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics while Wilson says the woman was taken to Dublin Methodist Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The release of actual names is pending location and notification of next of kin, Wilson said.
This investigation is ongoing.
