COLUMBUS – Two men were shot to death over the three-day Memorial Day weekend in Columbus, bringing the city’s homicide total for 2017 to 55.
At approximately 2:32 a.m. Saturday, Columbus police officers called to the Nelson Park Apartments on the East Side on a report of gunshots and an unresponsive male lying in the parking lot on Maryland Avenue found Deaonte Dwayne Bell suffering from a gunshot wound.
Bell,27, died at Grant Medical Center, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.
There are no suspects, known witnesses or clear motive for the shooting, Strayer said.
Officers responding to a report of gunshots and an unresponsive male lying in the middle of the street in the area of 1680 E. Fulton Street, also on the East Side at 12:21 a.m. Sunday found Anthony Lee Tolber, 38, suffering from a gunshot wound, Strayer said.
Tolber was pronounced dead at the scene.
There are no suspects, witnesses or motive, Strayer said.
The investigations are continuing.
