2 prime-time games begin football season

COLUMBUS – The Buckeyes will play their first two games of the 2017 football season in prime-time.

The season opener, set for Thursday, Aug. 31 at Indiana will start at 8 p.m. and will be on ESPN, the network announced Thursday.

Ohio State’s home opener against Oklahoma, Sept. 9 in Ohio Stadium, will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.

ESPN and the Big Ten Conference announced a number of 2017 game times and television network carriers Thursday. The remainder of the first three weeks of the 2017 Big Ten football schedule, including game times and television designations, and plans for homecoming games will be released by May 31.

Prime time games for the remainder of the season, starting with Week 4, will be announced 12 days prior to the game date,

A potential matchup of preseason Number 1 versus Number 2 between Alabama and Florida State will be ABC’s first Saturday night football game of the 2017 season.

The Crimson Tide and Seminoles, both likely to be ranked near the top of The Associated Press preseason Top 25, will meet in Atlanta on Saturday night, September 2nd.
