COLUMBUS, Ohio – What first appeared to be an auto accident turned into something much more when Columbus police officers arrived at the scene at a North Side apartment complex Friday morning.
This article has been updated to include the identity of the male victim and the death of the female victim.
A man and woman inside the car that was involved in the accident in front of 5760 Roche Drive at approximately 12:54 a.m. were found to be suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, one of which proved fatal, Homicide Unit detectives said.
Delrec Avant, 22, was taken to OSU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m., investigators said.
Dorcas Law, 24, was listed in critical condition at Riverside Methodist Hospital and died Friday evening
Police had named no suspects Friday.
These are the 51st and 52nd homicides of 2014 in Columbus.
