26 Buckeyes bound for Tokyo

COLUMBUS – The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo next month will feature a record number of athletes with ties to Ohio State competing for 12 different nations.

There will be 26 current, former or incoming Buckeyes set to compete for their the Olympic teams.

The nine athletes on the U.S. team include track and field performers Adelaide Aquilla and Anavia Battle, swimmer Hunter Armstrong and pistol shooters Henry and Jackson Leverett.

Former OSU athletes Christina Clemons, a hurdler; defending gold medalist wrestler Kyle Snyder, gymnast Alec Yoder, and incoming freshman synchronized swimmer Ruby Remati will also represent the U.S. in Tokyo.

Six athletes will be competing for Canada, two for Greece and one each for France, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Sierra Leone, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The games begin on July 23.
