COLUMBUS — A second man who was in a car that drove into a pond at a Southeast Side apartment complex early Wednesday has died.
UPDATE: Columbus police have identified one of the victims as 22-year-old Bernadino Garcia-Valencia
Columbus police say the vehicle went into the pond at the Hartford on the Lakes apartment complex around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Personnel from the city’s fire division pulled the men from the pond.
Both men were taken to Grant Medical Center where one was pronounced dead and Bernadino Garcia-Valencia, 22, died at about 9:00 a.m., police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner said.
Police say Garcia-Valencia lived in the apartment complex on Shore Boulevard East.
Authorities haven’t provided any other information about the crash or what caused it. Their investigation is continuing.
