3 murders in 2 days

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A pizza delivery driver making his rounds was one of three people who died Wednesday as a result of separate shooting incidents.

Detectives said several persons of interest were being interviewed Thursday morning but no one had been arrested yet in the murder of James Crabtree Jr.

Crabtree, 45, was shot in the upper in the 700 block of N. Cassady Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. in what investigators say was an apparent robbery attempt.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene, the 78th homicide of 2014 in

Crabtree’s death came about four and a half hours after police found Roger Burke Jr., in the driver’s seat of a white Nissan outside 2480 Peekskill Drive on the Northeast Side. Burke, 24, had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center shortly after 5:30 p.m., detectives said.

Police say a suspect, or suspects, were seen driving away in a four-door, silver or gray Acura.

Minutes before Crabtree was shot, Helen Shreve, 28, died of injuries she suffered in a shooting in in a Franklinton street early Tuesday.

Officers found Shreve lying in the street at the intersection of W. Town Street and S. Yale Avenue just after 1:30 a.m., suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, investigators said.

She was taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital where she died at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday, police said
