3 sought in shooting of 17-year-old

COLUMBUS – Columbus police are looking for three suspects in a shooting this week that left a teenager injured.

Officers dispatched to the 5000 block of Mapleridge Drive, on the Far East Side, just after 3:30 Monday afternoon found 17-year-old Darell Oliver suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Assault Unit investigators.

Oliver told police he had been in a fight with a male less than an hour before bullets were fired into his home and he was struck by gunfire.

Tyvelle “Big Ty” Copeland, 18, was charged with discharging a firearm into a habitation and two other men – 19-year-old Arius Green and 23-year-old Dawvid Courts – were listed as “co-defendants,” according to the Division of Police Twitter feed.

Police believe that the same individuals were involved but the incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Columbus Police Assault Unit at 614-645-4141 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.
