CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) – Police in Cleveland say charges likely will be brought against the person who took a gun to the house where a three-year-old boy shot his one-year-old brother in the head and killed him.
Investigators are trying to determine where the gun came from, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams told reporters gathered outside the home after the shooting Sunday afternoon.
“There have to be adults that either supplied the weapons, had charge of the weapons or that knew the weapons were there and didn’t do anything to safeguard them so people will be held accountable for this tragedy,” Williams said.
Full details about the shooting on the city’s east side weren’t released, but Williams said at least one adult was home when it happened.
Cleveland.com reports the one-year-old was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Cleveland.com says the boy’s mother could be heard screaming on the back porch after learning her son had died.
Neighbors said the mother lived in the house with at least three small children.
