35 arrested in prostitution sweep

COLUMBUS, Ohio – More than a dozen prostitutes and their clients were rounded up during a two-day crackdown that began with a block watch complaint in a South Side neighborhood this week, Columbus police said.

Police officers and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 18 prostitutes in the Parsons Avenue area on Tuesday and 17 “Johns” on Wednesday, according to a Division of Police spokeswoman. All have been charged with loitering or soliciting.

Police say a local block watch alerted authorities to the growing problem.
