COLUMBUS – It was another violent weekend in Columbus, though no one has been reported killed in four shooting incidents that left five people, including a teenager, injured.
A 17-year-old boy told investigators he was shot in the back during an argument outside an apartment building on the Northeast Side late Sunday night. He was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
The victim explained that a black male got out of a car that pulled up in front of the apartment building in the 1100 block of Como Avenue just before 10:00 p.m. and argued with the teen, Det. David Younker of the Felony Assault Unit said.
The suspect had a black handgun and told the victim he was going to shoot him. The youth said that he tried to get away but felt something hit him in the back as he was running, Younker said.
The incident is still under investigation.
A 34-year-old man was shot four times in the arm, leg, shoulder, and abdomen at approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday and was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital by a witness who told police the shooting happened in the North Linden area though officers were unable to locate a scene to corroborate the story, Sgt. Doug Jones said.
The victim was severely injured but Jones says he is expected to recover.
Two men were listed in critical condition at Grant Medical Center after a shooting on the West Side early Monday, according to Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit.
The two men, age 26 and 19, were shot in the stomach in the700 block of Sullivant Avenue at approximately 1:00 a.m., Shimberg said.
About two hours later, Shiimberg says two carloads of suspects arrived at a home in the 700 block of S. Wayne Avenue on the West Side and confronted the occupants of the home there about property damage that occurred previously in the evening.
As the suspects were driving away, one of the suspects fired a gun at the house, striking a 32-year-old man in the right side of the abdomen, Shimberg said.
There were several witnesses at scene who described the vehicles as a black pickup truck and a white Ford Explorer.
Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is asked to contact the Columbus Police Felony Assault Unit at 614-645-2179 or central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS(8477).
