5 school issues approved

COLUMBUS, Ohio – School issues in central Ohio fared well at the polls Tuesday, with five out of six winning solid approval from voters.

In Licking County, a 7.8-mill, 5-year renewal levy in the Southwest Licking schools received 74 percent of the vote. A 9.8-mill 10-year levy request in the Heath schools received 71 percent of the vote. A 1 percent income tax for the North Fork Local Schools won a narrow victory with 51 percent of the vote.

In Pickaway County, 70 percent of voters voted in favor of a 1 percent income tax and a 2.6-mill, 5-year levy request.

Only a 7-mill levy request in Fairfield County’s Walnut Township Local School District went down to defeat by a 55-45 percent margin.
