COLUMBUS – The Franklin County Coroner’s Office is again reporting several drug overdose deaths in a short period of time.

The office of Dr. Anahi Ortiz says it received reports of six overdose deaths in less than 24 hours from August 10 to August 11 there were 6 overdose deaths in Franklin County.
The overdoses were reported in on the West, East and North sides and in downtown Columbus, Ortiz said.
She said the majority of drug overdoses in the county are due to the synthetic opioid fentanyl and she warns anyone who uses drugs or knows a user to get fentanyl testing strips and make sure they have s supply of the anti-overdose medication naloxone.
Ortiz’s office reported 522 drug-overdose deaths in Franklin County in 2018.
In Ohio, 4,293 people died of drug overdoses in 2017, the second-highest number in the nation.
