COLUMBUS – Police are looking for the driver who struck a 64-year-old woman at a Northeast Side intersection Monday night and left the scene.
Police say passing motorists reported seeing Mary Kusel lying in the middle of the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Ward Road with severe injuries around 7:01 p.m.
Kusel died a few minutes later at Riverside Methodist Hospital, accident investigators said.
Kusel’s injuries were the result of an apparent crash and a possible vehicle of interest has been identified as a 1999 to 2007 Volkswagen Jetta, black or dark in color, with possible front end damage including the front lower bumper grill vent.
The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is asking that anyone who might have information related to the crash call 614-645-4767.
