6th-ranked Buckeyes await top 10 Nebraska

COLUMBUS – Ohio State remained at No. 6 in both major college football polls as they get ready to play the second game of a two-game home stand.

(6) Ohio State (7-1, 4-1 Big Ten) vs (9/10) Nebraska (7-1, 4-1) at Ohio Stadium, Sat. Nov. 5 (8:00 p.m./ABC)

The Buckeyes struggled Saturday and were deadlocked with Northwestern in the fourth quarter until Curtis Samuel scored on a three-yard run with 9:43 left to give OSU a 24-20 win.

“We’re a dogfight team, so that’s fine, builds a little character, I guess,” head coach Urban Meyer said afterwards. “Ages your coach, builds character for the players.”

After jumping out to a 4-0 start, Ohio State has shown vulnerability in wins over Indiana, Wisconsin and Northwester and a loss at Penn State.

Two days before the College Football Playoff selection committee unveils its first rankings of the season, the polls provided a likely preview.

Alabama, Michigan, Clemson and Washington are at the top of both polls after a weekend during which four unbeaten teams lost, followed by Louisville, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.

The Cornhuskers are ranked ninth in the AP media poll and 10th in the coaches’ poll.
