COLUMBUS – The State Highway Patrol says at least eight children and the bus driver were transported to a hospital when a school bus and another vehicle crashed near Thornville in Perry County Thursday morning.
Lt. Aaron Vollmer of the Ohio State Highway Patrol told WBNS 10-TV that none of the injuries were considered life threatening.
A dispatcher with the patrol’s Lancaster post said the car’s driver also was injured.
Vollmer told the television station that there were more than two dozen children on the Northern Local School District bus when a driver with a suspended license and a warrant out for his arrest ran a red light and was hit by the bus near the intersection of State Route 204 and State Route 13.
The station reported that BMV records show the driver has not had a valid license since 2000 and has two OVIs on his record.
