COLUMBUS – A nine-year-old girl was injured early Tuesday when someone fired gunshots into a North Linden home where several young people had gathered.

Maniya Cannon was taken to a hospital with what police say was a minor injury and was expected to recover after struck in the face when someone fired at least three shots into the home in the 1400 block of Republican Avenue at approximately 12:52 a.m., according to Mark Smith of the Columbus police Assault Unit.
Maniya was sleeping on the living room floor of the home, along with several other juveniles, with her mother, 36-year-old Martini Skiver, was sleeping on the couch, Smith said.
Raven Trudell, 19, told police she was in the kitchen of the home making a pizza when she heard three gunshots, one of which entered through a side window and ricocheted, striking Maniya just below her right eye, Smith said.
No one else was injured, Smith said.
