A day to dispose of documents and drugs

COLUMBUS – Central Ohioans can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs and protect themselves from identity theft at two events Saturday.

Crime Stoppers of Central Ohio

A document shredding event to benefit Crime Stoppers of Central Ohio is scheduled for Saturday morning in Gahanna and National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is being observed with dropoff facilities at various locations.

Shredding sensitive documents is an effective way to keep important personal information from being stolen.

The shredding event is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at 775 Taylor Road (see map).

Donations of $10 will benefit Crime Stoppers.

Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is held annually in April and October in partnership with local law enforcement and communities and provides residents a safe and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs.

The initiative also aims to educate the community about the potential for abuse of medications and how proper disposal of these materials can help to protect the environment.

This event is free and is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Click here for information and locations

Keeping unneeded medicine in the house can harm children, pets, teens and adults if accidentally ingested or misused.

Properly disposing of medication also contributes to keeping our waterways and environment protected and healthy.
