COLUMBUS – Residents in Hilliard and Dublin may be hearing the sound of helicopters over the next several months but it won’t be the police or any sinister government agency.
The work is scheduled to take place during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Property owners with questions can call 614-552-1929 or 877-215-9261.
The chopper will be used by crews from AEP Ohio who will be performing work on high-tension transmission lines, beginning as soon as Monday and continuing through August, the utility announced Wednesday.
A white McDonnell Douglas 369FF helicopter, contracted from Source Helicopters, will hover over high-voltage lines and near towers and poles to pull ropes between the structures, AEP officials said.
At times, the company says the helicopters may need to circle a single structure or area several times to perform the required activities.
AEP says it has been using helicopters for aerial line work in Ohio for more than 10 years.
