Aguilar’s 3 doubles power Clippers offense

COLUMBUS – Jesus Aquilar led the way as the Clippers outslugged the Charlotte Knights 10-6 Wednesday night in the opening game of a two-game series at Huntington Park.

Aguilar smacked three doubles, collecting three RBI and scoring four runs on a 4-for-5 night at the plate. One of those runs, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, broke a 3-3 tie.

Columbus scored a run in each of the next two before putting the game out of reach with four runs in the 6th inning. Aquilar knocked in two of them on a double and then scored to help make the score 10-3.

Toru Murata (13-4) struck out six hitters and allowed only three runs in his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Columbus has won six of its last eight games.

The two teams wind up the series Tuesday night.
