Alert for suspect in shooting of Ohio trooper

COLUMBUS – A rare Ohio Blue Alert has been issued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after a trooper was shot early Thursday in northwest Ohio.

The patrol says Robert Hathorn allegedly shot trooper Josef Brobst on I-75 in of Liberty Township in Hancock County just after 1:30 a.m., according to the alert.

Brobst was taken to the hospital.

Hathorn is believed to be driving a black 2016 Chevy Suburban (MI lic. #C7482198).

Blue Alerts are issued when an Ohio law enforcement officer is killed, injured or is reported missing while on duty and the suspect is at large.
