Amazon’s central Ohio plans

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Amazon was expected to unveil more of what it has in store for central Ohio Friday morning.

Gov. John Kasich and Amazon vice president of global public policy Paul Misener were scheduled to discuss what Kasich’s office described as “plans for a significant number of new jobs and investment.”

The announcement came days after Amazon announced it would be offering free same-day delivery service to its Prime loyalty club members in 14 cities.

According to the Columbus Dispatch the state In August approved tax incentives worth an estimated $81 million for an Amazon subsidiary that offers global computing, storage, database, analytics and other services for customers.

In return, Amazon would make a $1.1 billion investment over three years in the region by creating 120 jobs with an annual payroll of $9.6 million — or $80,000 a job, according to state documents from last summer.

Dublin, Hilliard and New Albany have also awarded tax incentives to the online retailer in anticipation that data centers will be built in all three suburbs
