COLUMBUS – Police have arrested a man in connection with a double shooting 20 months ago that left one man dead.
Homicide detectives filed a murder charge against Davon Hairston in the slaying of Stevaun Jessie, who was shot early on the morning of May 31, 2014, while riding in a car on the Northeast Side, Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.
Hairston, 21, was arrested on Tuesday.
Officers responding to a reported shooting in the area of N. 9th Street and E. 5th Avenue shortly after 3:15 a.m. found Jessie and Christopher Maxwell in the rear of a home on E. 4th Avenue.
Investigators say Jessie, 20, had been shot in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. Maxwell, 20, was also shot in the upper body and hospitalized in stable condition.
Detectives say the two were driving southbound on N. 9th Street from East 5th Street when they were shot and their vehicle came to rest behind the home at 662 East 4th Avenue.
