Arrest in East Side club murder

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police say a man fatally shot at an East Side club over the weekend is the 54th homicide victim of 2014.

At the end of June 2013, only 42 murders had been committed in Columbus, but police have said the increase this year is mostly due to last year’s slow homicide rate.

Homicide investigators say officers responding to a call about multiple shots fired inside Club Vission, 4212 Eastland Square Drive, shortly before 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning found Lennell Walton with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Walton, 35, was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 2:30 a.m.

Officers at the scene arrested Richard Bouyer, 28, and charged him with one count of murder.
