Arrest in Honda phony bomb threat

MARYSVILLE – A Bellefontaine man is facing a criminal charge after posting a fictitious bomb threat on a bathroom wall at the Honda Marysville Auto Plant on Wednesday, prompting authorities to evacuate the facility.

Jeffery Martinez, 30 of 505 E. Columbus Avenue in Bellefontaine has been charged with one count of inducing panic, Union County Sheriff Jamie Patton announced Thursday afternoon.

Martinez, who is described as a contractor working at the plant for Marion-based NEX Transport, Inc., was arrested at the plant Thursday afternoon, transported to the Tri-County Regional Jail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Marysville Municipal Court Friday morning.

Patton says the investigation continues and the case will be forwarded to Union County Prosecutor David Phillips who will decide whether to pursue additional charges.
