COLUMBUS – A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Columbus woman whose body was found in a shallow grave at Alum Creek State Park on July 4.
Authorities arrested John David Choe Bartholomew, of the Northwest Side, at noon Tuesday and initially charged with murder, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, Delaware County Sheriff Russell Martin said.
Bartholomew was charged in the death of Brittany McDowell, 28, whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in on the evening of July 4 by an Ohio Department of Natural Resources officer who was on routine foot patrol near State Route 37, Martin said.
Martin said McDowell had been shot to death but did not release any information concerning a motive or any other details.
Bartholomew is cooperating with Delaware County Sheriff’s detectives, who believe he acted alone, Martin said. He’s says a tip led investigators to consider Bartholomew a suspect.
Bartholomew was being booked into the Delaware County Jail Tuesday afternoon.
