Arrest in teen’s accidental shooting

COLUMBUS – Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with the accidental shooting death of a teen on the Southeast Side last week.

Elijah Morgan was arrested early Sunday morning by Columbus SWAT officers on Homestead Drive and taken to the Franklin County Jail on a charge of reckless homicide in the death of Damien Tesfai, 16, Friday night, according to homicide detectives.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Morgan was showing off a gun at his house in the 3400 block of Oak Bend Boulevard when it went off and the bullet struck Tesfai.

This was the 44th homicide of 2016.
