Arrest made in West Jefferson quadruple murder

WEST JEFFERSON (AP) — The police chief in West Jefferson says an arrest has been made in the shooting deaths of three men and a woman in the Madison County village last month.

Four counts of murder were filed against John Steckel, 35, Chief Christopher Floyd said.

Steckel was arrested on an unrelated parole violation about two weeks ago in Columbus, Floyd said.

Floyd says a review of multiple video images led investigators to identify Steckel as a suspect.

He says Steckel knew the victims and the apparent motive was robbery.
