Attempted abduction at grocery store

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police say a teenage girl escaped from a would-be abductor in the parking lot of a Hilliard-area grocery store last week.

Columbus police are distributing security-camera photos of the white four-door Ford Explorer they say pulled up beside the 16-year-old girl at the Kroger at Hilliard-Rome and Roberts roads at 6:45 p.m. on Jun e 17. They say the van had the words “Security” on both front doors and oval shapes where other decals might have been removed.

The driver grabbed the girl by the arm and tried to pull her into the SUV but she got away.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25-30 years old, 6’/250-300 lbs. with short brown hair, detectives say.
