COLUMBUS – A man tried to settle a fight with on board a COTA bus with an axe on the North Side Friday night.
Samuel Myatt was charged with felonious assault after police say he got on board the bus and hit Ronald Sparks Jr. with the blunt end of the axe after the two got into a fight.
Both men were treated at area hospitals and were listed in stable condition, Homicide Unit Sgt. Stanley Latta said,
At approximately 9:59 p.m. Friday, officers dispatched to the intersection of N. High Street and E. Hudson Street on a report of a man attacking another man with an axe on a bus.
Witnesses told police that Sparks, 49, was paying his fare when he began arguing with Myatt, 58, who struck Sparks several times with the blunt end of the axe, Latta said.
Myatt admitted to police that he and Sparks got into a fight a few minutes earlier and Myatt went home to get the axe. Latta says Myatt admitted striking Sparks with the axe “and knew it was wrong.”
