COLUMBUS – A 4-month-old baby escaped unscathed from a three-vehicle crash on the Northeast Side Thursday night that left the driver of one of the cars dead.
Columbus police say Alexandra Johnson was riding in a minivan on Morse Road just after 9:30 p.m. when it was struck by Frankie Stockton, Jr.’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Investigators said Stockton, 34, was driving westbound on Morse Road, east of Dunbridge Street, at what witnesses described as a very high rate of speed when he lost control of his car.
As he passed the intersection with Dunbridge Street, the car drove left of center and into the eastbound lanes of traffic where he collided with a Toyota, driven by Seid Ali, and the Chrysler Town and Country minivan, driven by Michelle Johnson, of Blacklick, where Alexandra was a passenger.
Stockton died shortly after arrival at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Ali,24, and Michelle Johnson, 36, were taken to Grant Medical Center where they were in good condition, police said.
Alexandra Johnson was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where she was evaluated and released without injury.
Police say one other vehicle was damaged by flying debris, but the occupant was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation.
