Band director indicted on sex charges

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) – A central Ohio band director accused of inappropriate conduct with three students has been indicted on charges including sexual battery.

The charges against Anthony Miller of Westerville reflect his conduct with three females, Licking County Prosecutor Kenneth Oswalt says. Oswalt said in a statement Thursday that the alleged conduct occurred while the females were students at Newark High School.

Miller, 32, is an assistant band director there and served as a band director at a middle school. Miller has been suspended without pay from the district.

Miller’s attorney, Brad Koffel, says the indictment was expected and Miller is cooperating with authorities.

The indictment refers to conduct dating as far back as August 2010 and as recent as June 2013. Miller also is accused of disseminating inappropriate photographs.
