COLUMBUS – “Alphabet twins” J.T. Barrett and J.K Dobbins were named co-Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week by the Big Ten for their performances in the Buckeyes’ season opening win over Indiana.
(2) Ohio St (1-0, 1-0) vs. (5/6) Oklahoma (1-0), Ohio Stadium, Sept. 9 (7:30 pm./ABC)
Barrett completed 20-of-35 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns while running for a fourth as the Buckeyes overcame a 14-13 halftime deficit and outscored Indiana 29-7 in the second half.
The graduated quarterback became Ohio State’s all-time leader in total offense and has accounted for 104 career touchdowns, just two shy of Drew Brees’ Big Ten record.
Dobbins, a freshman from LaGrange, Texas, became just the sixth Buckeye true freshman to ever start a season opener for the Scarlet and Gray. He carried the ball 29 times for 181 yards, setting a record for most yards rushing by a freshman in his opening game.
His two longest runs – of 35 and 27 yards, respectively – both led to second-quarter scores.
