Bathroom Bandit behind bars

COLUMBUS – Police on Monday caught up with a man who had been accused of stealing the plumbing from the public restrooms of West Side businesses and selling it to support his drug habit.

Detectives say Duwayne Courts, 57, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Monday on W. Broad Street and charged with 12 counts of burglary and 12 counts of vandalism.

Police say Courts went into men’s restrooms at a Kmart on Stringtown Road, several restaurants on Georgesville Road and W. Broad Street and the Mount Carmel West Hospital on W. State Street and walked out with plumbing material hidden in his backpack.

Detectives say he was stealing the metal to sell and support his drug habit.
