Bats 2, Clippers 0

COLUMBUS – Top prospect Robert Stephenson shut down the Clippers Wednesday as the Louisville Bats took the opening game of a two-game series, 2-0.

Stephenson (3-0) gave up only four hits and struck out five in six shutout innings.

Irving Falu and Brennan Boesch knocked in both Louisville runs.

The loss spoiled a decent outing by the Clippers’ Shaun Marcum (7-2) who struck out nine hitters while giving up one run on four hits in seven innings.

The two teams meet up again Thursday night in Louisville before the Clippers head to Rochester and Indianapolis as a nine-game road trip continues.
