COLUMBUS – The Clippers’ bats and arms let them down in a 7-1 loss to Louisville Wednesday night.
Todd Hankins provided the only run for Columbus with a solo homer in the first inning off Bats starter Robert Stephenson (5-5) who got the win by giving up only three more hits and striking out nine batters in seven innings of work.
Mitch Talbot (0-2) surrendered three runs to take the loss for Columbus, which can salvage a series win with victory in the fourth game at Louisville Slugger Field Thursday night.
