Bats 8, Clippers 5

COLUMBUS – The Clippers were swept in a two-game series against Louisville with the Bats’ 8-5 at Huntington Park Thursday night.

Columbus has lost three out of their last four games against International League West Division opponents and has seen their lead over Indianapolis shrink to five games.

Louisville jumped on starter Jordan Stephens (3-5) early, scoring six runs in the first three innings, highlighted by Ryan Lavarnway’s two-run home run in the second and Alex Blandino’s two-run double in the third.

Lavarnway also hit a solo homer in the eighth.

Justin Grimm (2-0) got the win for the Bats.

Yu Chang and Eric Haase each contributed two-run home runs for the Clippers who travel to Indianapolis for a three-game series starting Friday night.
