BBB blasts water park

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio is calling out a popular East Side water park for what it calls “dismal customer service.”

According to Joan Coughlin, vice president of Marketing and Public Relations, the organization gave Fort Rapids, 4560 Hilton Corporate Drive, an “F” rating due to “a pattern of complaints alleging failure to respond to requests for assistance, dismal customer service, and failure to disclose crucial terms” of advertised promotions.

Between March 2014 and May 2015, complaints filed on the BBB’s website cited problems such as no heat in rooms, the pool being unavailable, insecure lockers, and “overall suboptimal conditions,” Coughlin said.

Coughlin says the BBB contacted the officials at Fort Rapids, which opened at its site in 2004, twice in April requesting cooperation in resolving the complaints and asking how they would eliminate the pattern of complaints but, as of Thursday, the BBB had not received a response.

Among the 38 complaint filed against business on the bureau website were claims of cracks in the walls of hotel rooms, cockroaches on the premises, high chlorine levels that caused coughing and nausea, rudeness or inattention by staff and management, the pool being closed due to a ventilation system failure, another failure that left the facility “unbearably hot and humid.”
