COLUMBUS – A man who died Monday after being brutally beaten on a Franklinton street over the weekend became the city’s 122nd homicide victim of 2017.
Joseph Williams assaulted William Taylor in front of 43 1/2 Rodgers Avenue at 9:04 a.m. Sunday, repeatedly hitting him about the head and body with a large metal or wooden object, possibly a pole or board, according to investigators with the Columbus police Assault Unit.
Williams, 51, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with murder, police said.
Taylor, 55, was taken to a hospital with a severe head injury and died Monday.
