Bike to Work Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Drivers will need to keep a sharp eye out for cyclists Friday morning, as two-wheeled enthusiasts celebrate Bike to Work Day.

More than 200 participants will pedal downtown to Columbus Commons to celebrate in the morning.

Organizers say most riders travel in one of seven groups along one of the routes shown on the event website.

Mayor Michael Coleman will ride the East Route, led by CoGo Bike Share, which recruited 100 riders, the largest number of any of the seven groups taking part.

The other partner organizations are Yay Bikes!, Friends of Camp Chase Trail, Consider Biking, Transit Columbus, the Create Columbus Commission and Transit Columbus, MORPC and car2go.

The event is being supported by Columbus Commons, and Whole Foods Market. Additional event partners include Cycle Tavern, Third Hand Bike Co-op, The Idea Foundry, Yelp, Capital Crossroads Special Improvement District and Ohio Department of Transportation.
